Regional Information
 The
first successful vineyards were planted in this area in 1843. In
1852 there were 473 acres in vineyards. Missouri was the second largest
wine producing state in the nation before prohibition.
Once again vineyards are
growing. There are now 200 acres of grapes in this area with plans
for expansion. More new vineyards are starting up.
